Universal Fabrication Services

I studied art, biology and museum science in school, and whatever caught my interest.  For many years I combined these interests into a career as an exhibit preparator for natural history museums.  My work can currently be found in locations ranging from small nature centers to some of the largest natural history museums in the country.  I also have a general interest in making things, and have learned a variety of useful skills including woodworking, welding, metal machining and fabrication, plus a few others.  Outside the realm of museums I have used these various skills for custom fabrication projects under the name of Universal Fabrication Services.  I also have an active interest in herpetology and occasionally  assist with research projects dealing with amphibians and reptiles.  For the last few years I have applied my skills and knowledge in making things to the production of theatre stage props at the University of Michigan.

All of the fish depicted in this scene are reconstructions of Devonian species ranging in size from five inches to sixteen feet in length.  The models were then photographed and assembled in Photoshop.  The seafloor was created by George Marchand as part of a museum diorama.
